RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research is focused on the supraspinal mechanisms and treatment for chronic pain. I am currently on a training grant from the American Academy of Neurology, in order to study the use of real-time fMRI in the treatment of chronic pain. Real-time fMRI is a novel approach to imaging which provides feedback from selected brain regions to the subject in real-time such that they can attempt to modulate or control their brain activity. Through functional connectivity studies we are looking at which areas of the brain are suitable targets for modulation and then working with patients in chronic pain to learn how to modulate these areas. Currently we are recruiting patients with CRPS to participate in the initial stages of this investigation.
Other projects include:
Voxel based morphometry analysis of patients with CRPS
Resting state network analysis of patients with CRPS
